GMDSS products for platforms, floaters and lifeboats

The Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) is an international system which uses improved terrestrial and satellite technology and ship-board radio systems. It ensures rapid alerting of shore-based rescue and communications authorities in the event of an emergency.  An Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) is used to alert search and rescue services in the event of an emergency. It does this by transmitting a coded message on the 406 MHz distress frequency via satellite and earth stations to the nearest rescue co-ordination centre.

Jotron developed the world’s first EPIRB in 1970. Since then, the company has been a dominant producer of GMDSS and automatic identification system (AIS) products.  Jotron’s EPIRPs are internationally approved and meet all segments of sailing vessels, platforms and lifeboats.

VHF FM and VHF AM system with remote control for offshore helicopter traffic

Platforms in the North Sea, among them Lundin’s Edvard Grieg, have installed a fully integrated Jotron VHF AM digital radio communication system for maximizing  air traffic safety. For smaller offshore installations and helideck operations, Jotron’s compact VHF AM Mobile Radio complies to ETSI, FCC and marine standards and is well suitable for offshore helideck-to-air communication.

Coast stations worldwide are using Jotron’s coastal radio for safe communication between coast to ship. This coastal radio is intended for use at coast stations and offshore installations requiring high quality FM voice and digital selective calling (DSC).

Multiple radios can be operated from a single remote position, and multiple operators may utilize same radios from different positions by Jotron’s touchscreen operated  remote radio control (RRC) system. The RRC is stand-alone, VoIP based system and a cost-effective option to more costly conventional voice switches.

The Ricochet Recorder complies with international security standards and can be integrated with Jotron’s radios. SmartOil is a recording solution exclusively developed for small onshore and offshore air traffic control operations and communication between helicopters, offshore platforms and vessels. SmartOil can record up to 3 audio channels and 3 CCTV cameras, and offers instant synchronous replay access and integrated replay and data management.  The recorder is cost-efficient and can be installed, operated and maintained by the operator.
