Energy

Jotron supplies maritime distress communication, and radio and recorder systems for ships, offshore and land-based facilities. These products are primarily sold for shipbuilding and construction of new oil, gas and offshore wind installations. Service, maintenance and modifications of existing installations are also important for Jotron within the energy market.

Energy safety communication – built and tested to meet your specific requirements

Jotron is proud to be enhancing employee safety for those working within the oil, gas and renewable energy industry

Jotron products are developed for use in harsh offshore and the most safety demanding areas. Jotron has extensive experience in providing energy safety communication. The solid expertise for this market is what makes Jotron a leading provider of GMDSS and AIS equipment, and offshore air traffic and recording systems today. Focusing on the renewable energy market, Jotron’s communication solutions for offshore windmill converter stations are in use by global market key operators.

Airport safety communication has successfully merged into offshore air traffic operations

Several oil platforms in the North Sea are fully equipped with integrated radio and recorder systems to ensure maximum air traffic safety communication. The Jotron VHF Coastal Radio used for coast to ship communication has been on the market since 2008. This radio is in use at hundreds of coast stations worldwide. This radio is the perfect solution for communication and offshore installations requiring high quality FM voice and digital selective calling (DSC). The Jotron compact mobile radio complies with marine standards and is well suited for smaller offshore installations, helidecks and other applications where ground-to-air communication is essential. More recently, due to the harsh operating environment and some serious incidents the market has been encouraged to focus on helicopters operating in the marine environment, which is important for extending safety these pilots too.

The markets first customized recording and replay for offshore helicopter traffic

Recording of helicopter traffic communication to and from platforms became mandatory in Brazil in 2015.  The customized Jotron recorder for audio and CCTV records communication between helicopters, offshore platforms and vessels.  By instant synchronous replay access and integrated replay, the operators can recreate any scenario, identify the cause aof the incident and ensure that improvements are implemented to avoid a similar incident in the future.

GMDSS PRODUCTS FOR PLATFORMS, FLOATERS AND LIFEBOATS

The Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) is an international system which uses improved terrestrial and satellite technology and ship-board radio systems. It ensures rapid alerting of shore-based rescue and communications authorities in the event of an emergency.  An Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) is used to alert search and rescue services in the event of an emergency. It does this by transmitting a coded message on the 406 MHz distress frequency via satellite and earth stations to the nearest rescue co-ordination centre.

Jotron developed the world’s first EPIRB in 1970. Since then, the company has been a dominant producer of GMDSS and automatic identification system (AIS) products.  Jotron’s EPIRPs are internationally approved and meet all segments of sailing vessels, platforms and lifeboats.

VHF FM AND VHF AM SYSTEM WITH REMOTE CONTROL FOR OFFSHORE HELICOPTER TRAFFIC

Platforms in the North Sea, among them Lundin’s Edvard Grieg, have installed a fully integrated Jotron VHF AM digital radio communication system for maximizing  air traffic safety. For smaller offshore installations and helideck operations, Jotron’s compact VHF AM Mobile Radio complies to ETSI, FCC and marine standards and is well suitable for offshore helideck-to-air communication.

Coast stations worldwide are using Jotron’s coastal radio for safe communication between coast to ship. This coastal radio is intended for use at coast stations and offshore installations requiring high quality FM voice and digital selective calling (DSC).

Multiple radios can be operated from a singel remote position, and multiple operators may utilize same radios from different positions by Jotron’s touchscreen operated  remote radio control (RRC) system. The RRC is stand-alone, VoIP based system and a cost-effective option to more costly conventional voice switches.
